Optis are clean 2-strokes. Mercury sells 4-strokes from 4 hp to 275 hp including its Verado line and OptiMax direct injection 2-strokes from 75 hp to 225 hp. The 4-stroke gets slightly better fuel economy but otherwise doesnt measure up very well.

DFI 2-strokes in general beat 4-strokes in holeshot fuel efficiency and top end. Yes having 3L will help a 4-Stroke but the valve train robs HP the engine does not have a power stroke per revolution so as for torque it would not be as much. Acceleration is half what the Optimax accomplishes and top end is slower.

That engine is a 30 liter engine detuned for reliability thats capable of 300 hp. Optis are a bit touchy. The EFI I believe is an even better performer but less fuel efficient.
